When Money Equals Kilos!!

Monday Nov 23, 2009

Yesterday I held baby Delilah in my arms, she has such kissable cheeks, I was kissing and blowing raspberries on her cheeks she was giggling and cooing

When we first saw Delilah she was sick (see other posts)  and weighed 3 kg (she was 9 months old)

Now she has hit 6 kg…….yahhhh what a victory, 3kg in 2 months. Milk, medicine and money……simple really

My money has literally turned into kilos on this gorgeous baby

I am content!!

Nerida, Delilah and her other children in Church this week!

Her mother Nerida was in church with 5 children yesterday!!

The door was baby milk and God won her.

What a change in this family’s life.

Love Cath

Outworking Faith

Tuesday Aug 4, 2009

I have been challenged today to simply let my faith be outworked

Go on just do it………..

Don’t think too hard just let people see Jesus…….

2817663_blog

About 2 months ago a girl I have never met in all my life told me AT THE CHECKOUT she had an abortion, there were people there no privacy…….but she still told me (and the people before me too) she was hurting and bleeding her heart all over everyone.

I was so shocked I was speechless……….I did not say anything except ummmm errrrrr……..HMMMMMM

WHAT WAS THAT?????

I was not ready to preach in and out of season, I was unprepared and caught off guard…….I missed a God chance to DO something

I  bet Jesus would have said something………he just EXPECTS garbage to surface when He is around………….why am I different???? I should not be, Lord help me

This scripture is becoming more important to me daily

2 Peter 1:4-6 (New International Version)

4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

WHY…………………it speaks of action, Godliness is action……………..Lord hear my cry and help my unbelief!!!

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass.

It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Why Would We Take Kids to Manila? 2

Saturday May 9, 2009

Why Would We Take Our Kids To a Developing Nation??

Before I answer I would encourage you to watch these 2 You Tube Videos, they will answer a lot without words

They address 2 things

APATHY and AFFLUENCE

watch?v=Up2oK5nx3bI

watch?v=KFZz6ICzpjI

I think the videos speak for themselves, however….

My children will soon be out of my direct influence,

They will be making life decisions,

I want them to base decisions on a bigger picture and framework.

They need to see how 2 thirds of the world live.

They need to make a difference.

They need to know.

Going Deep!!!

Thursday May 7, 2009

This song has been such blessing to me…..I get touched by God EVERYTIME I listen to it, makes me wanna take the leap of faith, come on lets go!!

Read the words then listen to the song, I guarantee a blessing

DIVE by Steve Curtis Chapman

The long-awaited rains have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground

Have carved their way to where the wild and rushing river can be found

And like the rains I have been carried here to where the river flows, yeah

My heart is racin’ and my knees are weak as I walk to the edge

I know there is no turning back once my feet have left the ledge

And in the rush I hear a voice, it’s telling me it’s time to Take the leap of faith

So here I go

I’m diving in

I’m going deep

In over my head I wanna be

Caught in the rush

Lost in the flow

In over my head I wanna go

The river’s deep The river’s wide

The river’s water is alive

So sink or swim I’m diving in

I’m diving in

There is a supernatural power in this mighty river’s flow

It can bring the dead to life, and it can fill an empty soul

And give a heart the only thing worth livin’ and worth dyin’ for, yeah

But we will never know the awesome power of the grace of God

Until we let ourselves get swept away into this holy flood

So if you’ll take my hand, we’ll close our eyes and count to three

And take the leap of faith

Come on let’s go

So here I go

I’m diving in

I’m going deep

In over my head I wanna be

Caught in the rush

Lost in the flow

In over my head I wanna go

The river’s deep The river’s wide

The river’s water is alive

So sink or swim I’m diving in

Steven Curtis Chapman’s comment on the song: This was inspired by a story Pastor Scotty Smith told during one of his sermons. He had an awesome fishing trip with fellow Pastor Scott Roley. They had gone trout fishing and found a stream that produced a day of fishing that was a dream come true. They were standing chest deep in this stream catching trout left and right and at the day’s end had caught 200 fish. It was just unbelievable. He said the interesting thing was all the people standing on the shore watching them. Nobody was catching fish from the shore because you had to be out in the deep water where the fish were. Scotty related this story to the Christian life by saying it’s not a spectator sport, it’s not something we just sit on the side, we’ve got to get deep into the living water to experience what it is. It’s dangerous, it’s scary, it’s frightening and it’s all those things but that’s where we are called to live our lives. I took that analogy and said I want to write that somehow and I started working on the song Dive. From there I began to think about how my kids and I go to Camp Kanacut every summer. We usually try to spend a couple of days afterwards going to Tablerock Lake and we climb up on the cliffs and jump off. We don’t actually dive; we’re not brave enough to do that yet. That whole experience is so much like what it is to follow Jesus Christ. If we’re really going to do it and really dive in deep to what it means to get lost and lose ourselves in the flow of the living water. It’s a scary thing, you stand there with your knees knocking, you’re excited, you’re speechless and you almost can’t catch your breath. Your heart’s racing and you know once you take that step there isn’t any turning back. It’s not like the cartoons where you can run in mid air and come back to the ledge. You know you’re committed and once you hit the water and go deep in the water you experience that sense of “Yes! I did it, I’m in!” All of those emotions and experiences are what I wanted to capture in this song.

Changing Hearts by Mark Pedder

Sunday Apr 12, 2009

I would love to share with you this great blog from an old friend of ours Mark Pedder, we taught Chn Church together years ago (LOL) , he and his wife Christine are Missionaries in Baseco Manila. Baseco is a slum and they run 4 churches and some very amazing programes including a School programe  that sends a child to school for 1 year for 100 dollars (that is so cheap, when you consider the destiny of that child’s life is changed forever!) Anyway hope you like it, it really shows how our influence as a parent or teacher can change a child…..forever!

More of Mark’s preaching on his blog

http://markpedder.wordpress.com

“CHANGE” THE HEART OF A CHILD… (or of anyone…) & YOU CAN POTENTIALLY CHANGE THE WORLD…

There are all sorts of quotes on the net about changing children and changing worlds through them. I have no doubt that this is a truth, although it’s clearly a long term task.

The bible says that “as a man thinks, so he is”, the bible teaches that out of the heart of man spring forth all sorts of good and evil, what comes out of the mouth is the overflow of the heart. Our hearts and our minds are very closely related. I have no doubt that if you can honestly and genuinely change the heart of a child for the better, you can potentially change the future of nations. Everything that comes out of man, starts with a thought and then becomes an action.

Third world nations become third world nations through the same process. It is either poor and uneducated thought process’s and ideas, which once implemented bring poor results, or it’s lack of mental disciplines to see good ideas taken through to completion, or it’s a lack of good values and morals (most 3rd world nations are incredibly corrupt with massive abuses of power and resources by the rich), which comes from bad hearts, again, this is often due to wrong reasoning or wrong values. To change a nation you must change it’s heart values, to do this, you have to change people, and most importantly you have to change people who have the potential to go on and make changes. So we need to to teach people who are able to teach, and train those who are able to train.

Changing values can take a long time (unless God is involved and renews peoples minds by the Spirit, then it can happen overnight), so in order to change the future of a nation, you must start with, or at least focus upon, the children. So we either need to recognise and encourage gifted children, and/or we need to enable children to be gifted, give them the right input, expose them to the right things in order that they can develop into great people. Everything that you do with a child is so important, but for me the 3 most important things for me to focus upon are these -

  • Totally UNCONDITIONAL LOVE – children (all people) must feel genuinely loved simply for who they are, not anything they do…
  • My EXAMPLE – this has so much more effect than anything I teach or say…I must be what I teach and say…my example teaches much more than I realise…
  • They must always be told…YOU CAN…especially focused upon…YOU CAN do anything God leads you to do…connect a child to the thought that there are no limits, no boundaries, that there is nothing that can’t be done and connect that child to God…

It all comes down to “CHANGE” - CHANGE the way a person views their situation and circumstances, CHANGE the way they view themselves and their impact upon their situation or circumstances – and then you have a person who can bring CHANGE to their situation and circumstances. Here are two children who could easily go on and “CHANGE” their worlds…

Look at Mayrelle Robedillo for an instance, she is 6, nearly 7. In her class at school, there are 70+ children. Mayrelle is at the top of the class. Her lowest grade for any subject has been 95%, she went for months with every test being 100%. With a class so huge and a teacher unable to cope, Mayrelle is often teaching one side of the class while the teacher works with the other half. She is now growing up in a “full on” Christian family, her mother is a pastor after being “born again” for just 3 years, her father is full time in ministry after 2 years. She is speaking English to us everyday, she is getting good values and ethics – she is always being told what she “Can Do”…imagine her when she is 21…WORLD CHANGER…

Roderick Mission, smart little boy, 11 years old. At 9, he was the man of his house. He was at school full time and then in the night, all night he was out in the markets working, as he was the sole provider for his household, mum and 3 sisters. Some nights he would earn 300p selling plastic bags to shoppers in the markets, that is more than many adult men earn daily at their jobs. And while he did this he kept his grades high, but would often fall asleep in school. So he has already a great work ethic, a sense of responsibility, great English skills…imagine him when he is 21…he says he is going to the President, we tell him “He Can”…WORLD CHANGER…
